The Trash

Could I make a beauty difference without spending big bucks? I didn't know but I thought I would give it a try. The timing was right, my husband was away for 6 weeks and so I wouldn't have to be waiting on him hand and foot (as if) and I could spend some extra time on myself.

Because time was the reason I gave for letting my beauty regime slip a little. Well, okay -a lot.
I am still carrying around my post baby weight and my baby is nearly in school.
The last time I painted my nails was when I was celebrating my best friends 21st (in 1994).
I hadn't spent any money on new make-up since my wedding day - 7 years ago.

You get the picture - my idea of a daily 'beauty ritual" was to have a shower, pull my hair back into a bun and not to forget the bra (please God, don't forget the bra!)

I wasn't always like this - my best friend and I used to call Thursday nights our "pamper" nights (to any American readers pamper meaning to indulge - not diaper). We would apply face masks, do a full mani & pedi and slather ourselves in exfoliant and moisturisers.
There was a time I would not even leave the house without foundation on - even to go the the gym (not that I went to the gym THAT often).
I spent countless dollars on micro-dermabrasion, fruit-peels, spray on tans.
I was on the mailing list for Clinique. Enough said.

Then I just lost interest. I started letting my underarm hair get long enough to plait. I forgot to put on mascara before I started the car. My hair regrowth was longer than my actual colored hair. But it didn't seem to matter. I was married, a mother and I didn't go out much - so who cared? I thought that was what happened when you got OLD.
So I guess I am a prime target for this quest. I will take time with a Kardashian inspired beauty regime including diet, exercise, skin, hair, make-up, nails and styling but without the big dollars. I will only spend under $40 a time on products or use whatever I can beg, steal or borrow from buddies. I will also be interviewing friends who are in the beauty industry to get their take on whether it does take a lot cashola to make a beauty or whether it can be achieved through diligence, patience and good ole Oil of Olay.

The Trash is ready to be taken out.

Oh, and by the way. Two of the Kardashian sisters are in their 30's. So am I. Go figure.
